Day to day:

To become a member of a small, experienced team of 3 Enterprise Architects that operates globally to inspire, motivate and facilitate a broad architecture community residing Delivery Teams in other parts of the company. These teams are responsible for IT operations and to support business change in an Agile way. Your role is to guide and coach these teams pro-actively. You can also expect to work with ambitious business management that always is looking for new opportunities. In this role you are the orchestrator of change. The globe is your working field and thus you need to travel on a regular basis.

You can

  • Participate in the analysis, evaluation and development of enterprise long-term strategic and operating planning to ensure that the Enterprise Architecture objectives are consistent with the enterprise’s long-term business objectives.
  • Collaborate with Executive and Senior Business and IT management in making mid-term investment plans. You do a health check on the IT landscape, analyze the business strategy and assess the strategic investment portfolio with the objective to ensure that business & technology investments will provide the maximum value for the business today and into the foreseeable future. You can create and maintain the Future State Architecture, including Roadmap and Transition Architectures to steer developments in agile Delivery Teams.
  • Lead and facilitate Trend Analysis by analyzing Market Developments and by organizing workshops with business and IT stakeholders to discover potential disruptors in the Technology Market that may impact the DLL business model.
  • Sponsor and facilitate so called Incubators, innovative projects to prove the impact of these disruptors in terms of opportunities or threads.
  • Motivate, inspire and facilitate a functional team of Architects securing architecture alignment in investment portfolios and program roadmaps. The Architects report into IT Delivery Teams in other parts of the organization globally each having its own maturity, evolution speed, business priority and baseline IT landscape.
  • Execute architecture governance by enforcing the architecture process in the organization and chairing governance meetings with Lead Architects to make and capture decisions made regarding architecture.
  • Govern the architecture repository, owned by Lead Architects, to ensure the architecture meets the DLL ArchiMate Standards and actively coach Lead and Solution Architects on the use of ArchiMate.
  • Ensure that the respective business, application, information and technology perspectives are in line with the organization’s technology and governance strategies, policies and standards.
  • Set Architecture Standards that clearly define the architecture framework for the Lead Architects in the Delivery Teams to achieve re-use, economies of scale and compliance. Actively communicate these standards and continuously improve them to meet market best practice and customer needs.
  • Own the Enterprise Architecture Backlog including the exceptions made to the Architecture Standards and ensure timely review and follow up is done by business and IT management.

Essentials:

  • Over 10 years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, preferably in the financial industry.
  • University level Education (MSc).
  • Excellent communication in speech and writing in English.
  • Proven affinity with digital business models.
  • Certified for TOGAF © and ArchiMate ©.
  • Broad understanding of strategy and architecture modelling standards.
  • Thorough understanding of financial industry business models.
  • Understanding of Governance Models such as COBIT.
  • Experience in business and IT strategy development.

You are

  • A Senior Enterprise Architect with over 10 years of experience in the international Financial Services Industry dealing with the increasingly digital needs of the customer.
  • A strategic and conceptual thinker who continuously balances long term strategic direction with short term needs. You are result driven and able to translate business strategy into business and technology architecture.
  • An excellent communicator in speech and writing who easily can interact on C-level in the company, able to convey complex process and IT subjects in executive terminology.
  • A thought leader in Enterprise Architecture, able to further mature the architecture community consisting of lead- and solution architects within DLL and leading the adoption and improvement of the architecture practice in DLL.
  • Taking accountability for business, process, information and application architecture in design as well as in realization. You are actively driving and facilitating change in business processes, organization, information and the application landscape. You are committed to the longer term.
  • Pragmatic during implementation of the architecture design when necessary to drive change forward while keeping long term objectives into account.
  • Comfortable in working in an Agile delivery model enabling fast delivery of the investment portfolio continuously ensuring strategy objectives are achieved as well.
  • An innovator in terms of having affinity and interest with new technologies. Having the ability to early spot and assess disruptors in the marketplace and having the ability make the translation to concrete business opportunities for DLL by means of business model design and running incubator projects.
  • Open to learn, always having an outside-in view focused on the customer to ensure that the Enterprise Architecture of DLL anticipates timely market developments and customer needs.
  • A networker, sensitive to the business domain and able to influence a divers stakeholder community. You are the one who can help your stakeholders to prioritize the demand for change.
  • A coach for your peers in architecture and a mediator for stakeholders with different interests in terms of investment priorities.
